Such systems must be self-managing, capable of federation to assemble the necessary resources to meet application needs. Such autonomy can be achieved by enabling the systems to reason about the available resources. The critical problem is identifying proper resource description mechanisms.=0AArmed with such mechanisms, applications can request specific resources they need to complete their tasks, or create ‘fuzzy’ requests to an automated provisioning system based on application Service Level Objectives. =0A=0ASemantic resource descriptions based on modeling approaches and W3C standards provide a new approach. They allow for easy sharing of ‘vocabularies’ of concepts and relationships between them, as well as documents based on these vocabularies.=0AThis BoF session aims to provide a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas in the semantic resource description area and its possible applications.
