The Hodgkin-Huxley model of neural activity will be demonstrated, and simple simulations of Na and K channel blocks will be shown. The construction of neural networks will be shown along with the role of both chemical and electrical synapses and their effect on network behavior. Finally, the use of small-world networks to investigate circadian rhythms and epileptic seizures will be demonstrated. SNNAP was developed at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in the department of Neurobiology and Anatomy and is freely available (http://nba.uth.tmc.edu/snnap/).=0A=0APrerequisite: "Computational Biology Overview" session or equivalent.
