Multi-scale =0ASimulator for the Geoenvironment (MSSG), which deals with multi-scale =0Amulti-physics phenomena, is a coupled non-hydrostatic atmosphere-ocean =0Amodel designed to be run efficiently on the Earth Simulator. =0AWe present its simulation results with the world-highest 1.9km =0Ahorizontal resolution for the entire globe. To gain high performance =0Aby exploiting the system capabilities, we propose novel performance =0Aevaluation metrics that incorporate the effects of the data caching =0Amechanism between CPU and memory. A potentially attainable computational =0Aperformance is also introduced by evaluating both computational and =0Amemory intensities. With the useful code optimization guideline based on =0Asuch metrics, we demonstrate that MSSG can achieve an excellent peak =0Aperformance ratio of 32.2% on the Earth Simulator with the single-core =0Aperformance found to be a key to reduced time-to-solution.
