SC is the International Conference for
High Performance Computing, Networking,
Storage and Analysis

SCHEDULE: NOV 12-18, 2011

When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your own schedule to guide you through the week.

You can also create your personal schedule on the SC11 app (Boopsie) on your smartphone. Simply select a session you want to attend and "add" it to your plan. Continue in this manner until you have created your own personal schedule. All your events will appear under "My Event Planner" on your smartphone.

Open Science Data Cloud Collaborative Opportunities

SESSION: Open Science Data Cloud Collaborative Opportunities

EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather

TIME: 12:15PM - 1:15PM

SESSION LEADER(S):Robert Grossman, Heidi Alvarez

ROOM:TCC 102

ABSTRACT:
We are entering the era of data driven science. Moore’s law has not only increased the power and decreased the cost of computers but also of the instruments that produce experimental data. Scientists in a wide variety of disciplines are producing unprecedented volumes of data that is transforming science. Although collaborations that collect very large datasets can build their own cyber infrastructure, there is currently no cyber infrastructure that can provide a long term home for medium to large size scientific datasets. The Open Science Data Cloud (OSDC) was developed to fill this gap. It is a cloud-based infrastructure that allows scientists to manage, analyze, integrate and share medium to large size scientific datasets. It is operated and managed by the not-for-profit Open Cloud Consortium. Come to this Session to learn more about the OSDC and how to collaborate with the OSDC on research projects involving data intensive computing.
