When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side
is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own
schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal
schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook
calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be
stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your
own schedule to guide you through the week.
You can also create your personal schedule on the SC11 app (Boopsie) on your smartphone. Simply select a session you want to attend and "add" it to your plan. Continue in this manner until you have created your own personal schedule. All your events will appear under "My Event Planner" on your smartphone.
Critically Missing Pieces in Heterogeneous Accelerator Computing
SESSION: Critically Missing Pieces in Heterogeneous Accelerator Computing
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
TIME: 12:15PM - 1:15PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Satoshi Matsuoka, Pavan Balaji
ROOM:TCC LL5
ABSTRACT: As we look forward to the exascale era, heterogeneous architectures will play a massive role in architecting the largest systems in the world. However, much of the interest in these architectures is an artifact of the hype associated with them. For such architectures to truly be a successful HPC platform, it is important that we look beyond this hype and learn what these architectures provide and what is critically missing in these architectures.
This BoF will bring together researchers working on and interested in these aspects, that would require fundamental research from the community to address in the exascale time-frame. The organizers have invited several researchers working in these areas to describe their point-of-view on this topic and provide updates on the status of software maturity for heterogeneous accelerators. Invited presenters include Wu-chun Feng, John Shalf, David Bader, Kei Hiraki and Jesus Labarta.
