When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side
is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own
schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal
schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook
calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be
stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your
own schedule to guide you through the week.
You can also create your personal schedule on the SC11 app (Boopsie) on your smartphone. Simply select a session you want to attend and "add" it to your plan. Continue in this manner until you have created your own personal schedule. All your events will appear under "My Event Planner" on your smartphone.
A Discussion on the Practicality of Archiving Data in the Cloud
SESSION: A Discussion on the Practicality of Archiving Data in the Cloud
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
TIME: 5:30PM - 7:00PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Molly Rector, Brandon Canaday, Jerry Shoopman
ROOM:WSCC 206
ABSTRACT: HPC environments may be skeptical about utilizing public cloud services for archive data. However, as organizations continue to hold on to ever-increasing amounts of data for future use and analysis, they need storage solutions that are both reliable and cost-effective - and many are wondering if the cloud might be the answer.
Cloud storage provides organizations a means to expand their data capacity without the large capital investment otherwise required to build additional infrastructure. The cloud storage consumption model is built around ease of use, flexibility, and perhaps most importantly, cost savings. However, organizations need to be vigilant and conduct the appropriate up-front research when considering a cloud service provider to ensure it will truly protect an organizations' data into the foreseeable future.
In this session, we will share information about what HPC environments should consider before implementing a cloud storage solution for long-term retention.
