The rapid increase of produced simulation results makes post-processing a significant time-consuming task. In-situ visualization, by coupling simulation and visualization steps, allows data analysis during the simulation, thus eliminating the need to store data. Data movement is considered too inefficient in an exascale system, and thus propose to do the computations locally where the data is created. Access to the simulation data is provided through an interface without loss of flexibility and abstraction. We demonstrate the scalability and impact on the simulation=0Aof this approach, implemented using raytracing, in two use cases: isosurface rendering in a mockup simulation reading from disk and particle rendering in an electrostatic particle-in-cell code.
