Examples and hands-on exercises will give participants first-hand experience at designing, implementing, and evaluating algorithms written in the APGAS style in the X10 programming language. The tutorial will include an overview and introduction to the X10 programming language, but will primarily focus on the effective use of X10 to develop scalable parallel applications. The usage of application frameworks such as the X10 array library, dynamic global load balancing framework, and distributed sparse matrix library will be highlighted. The compilation of X10 to CUDA for execution across a cluster of machines with attached GPGPUs will also be covered. In the hands-on sessions, participants will have the opportunity to either use command-line X10 tooling or to learn how to effectively use X10DT: a full-featured X10 IDE and debugger based on the Eclipse framework.
