SC is the International Conference for
High Performance Computing, Networking,
Storage and Analysis

SCHEDULE: NOV 12-18, 2011

When viewing the Technical Program schedule, on the far righthand side is a column labeled "PLANNER." Use this planner to build your own schedule. Once you select an event and want to add it to your personal schedule, just click on the calendar icon of your choice (outlook calendar, ical calendar or google calendar) and that event will be stored there. As you select events in this manner, you will have your own schedule to guide you through the week.

You can also create your personal schedule on the SC11 app (Boopsie) on your smartphone. Simply select a session you want to attend and "add" it to your plan. Continue in this manner until you have created your own personal schedule. All your events will appear under "My Event Planner" on your smartphone.

HPC in the Cloud

SESSION: HPC on Clouds

EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum

TIME: 11:00AM - 11:30AM

Presenter(s):Jim Herring

ROOM:WSCC 613/614

ABSTRACT:
The high performance technical computing needs of R&D, engineering, financial markets, business analytics and other segments have traditionally been deployed through purpose-built cluster and grid resources. This causes isolated resources unable to support other users, workloads and projects. This presentation explores how Cloud computing can offer a new infrastructure approach and delivery model for compute intensive requirements. By applying cloud principles to established HPC and technical computing infrastructures, silos vanish and shared computing resources can be applied on a project-by-project basis, maximizing the operational efficiency of existing clusters. Isolated computing resources are transformed into a centralized high performance computing environment that supports the demands of technical users. This enables on-demand access through your secure, private HPC Cloud resource pools — servers, storage, applications and services—that can be rapidly provisioned and deployed with minimal management, providing performance, efficiency, flexibility and collaboration, and scaling within your own infrastructure base.
